My family has lots of traditions, but my favorite is when my extended family and I go on vacation together. Every year we always go to Arizona to my Great Grandpa D.'s farm. We have gone there ever since I can remember and each year brings a hand full of memories. There are horses, chickens, peacocks, and all types of bugs and desert creatures.
We start the trip by making a 16 hour drive to the farm. And then, after 16 painful and squished hours, we arrive at the farm and everyone gets out of the car and goes inside Aunt Janice's house. There are three houses on the farm, one is Aunt Janice's house (she is Grandpa D.'s daughter) which is blue, one is the guest house which is white, and the other is Sara's house (she is Janice's daughter) which is yellow. Grandpa D. lives with Janice so we all go in and say 'hi' to everyone. After our greetings are over, the children are off! They are running around finding the chickens, chasing peacocks, pretending to be cowboys/girls, and so much more. We ride the horses, drive the golf cart, get the chicken eggs, make forts and my list can go on forever.
After a week of adventures, we have to say good bye and take another 16 hours to drive back home. Each year we leave with more memories and tales to tell of the times we had. Even now at my age I love to go every year and be adventurous and use my imagination. I hope my family never ends this tradition because I always have the time of my life!
